Brief Description: Also known as Bao'an Temple, it is one of the best representatives of the Taiwanese Folk Religion. Built over an old wooden temple from 1742, it underwent renovations and reconstructions throughout history until it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003. It is dedicated to the Taoist sanctity Baosheng Dadi and its wonderful architecture follows the principles of the Taiwanese tradition: facing south following the principles of Feng-Shui, 3 halls that grow in height following the principles of Confucius, and the two classic towers of the drum and the bell on both sides. At the entrance, we love the impressive paintings of gods that protect its doors. On its walls and columns, the engravings of dragons, lions and flowers stand out. In addition to wandering around the temple, you can see how the faithful of the temple practice their rituals, and you can even try them yourself. They may surprise you! If you go with children, make sure to stop by the Baoan Temple Garden, right in front of the Dalongdong Baoan Temple. It has plenty of caves and bridges to walk through, and figures and statues that you will love to play with.
