Maokong Gondola:

La Góndola de Maokong

Short description: The Maokong Gondola is a cable car that connects the city of Taipei with the Maokong village. It has a distance of 4km, and on its route it makes two stops and a 90 degree turn. Riding on it is an attraction in itself, although it is advisable to do it on sunny days, since the views of Taipei are beautiful. When you arrive at the station you will see that there are two queues, the long one is to get on the wagon with a transparent floor (not suitable for those with vertigo!) The other is for standard wagons. The truth is that the transparent wagon is not worth it, it can get dizzy, and the views are the same. So we recommend you save the queue and go for the normal ones. There are a total of 4 stations. The most common is to go up from Taipei to Maokong without going down, although it is possible to embark or disembark at the intermediate stations. Maokong, is full of beautiful Tea Houses overlooking the city. And when you go down, very close to the Gondola station in Taipei, you have the show of the Dancing Waters.

Hours: 09.00-21.00 (until 22.00 on Saturdays). Closed on Mondays.

Cost: 120 NTD from Taipei Station to Maokong Station (if you get off at the intermediate stations, the cost is 70 if you have only gone through one station, and 100 if you have gone through two). You can pay with your EasyCard. Children under 6 years old go free and those 6-12 years old pay half.

How to get there: MRT Taipei Zoo Station (brown line). Exit 2 and walk about 300m to the gondola station.
