- Brief description: This beautiful market was built in the middle of the 20th century and is divided into nine stone sections. It is the second most visited spot in Santiago after the Cathedral. People from all over the city come here to buy fresh goods, especially meat, fish and seafood. You can also buy cheese and local products, in addition to typical regional delicacies (at certain stalls you can buy "empanadas gallega" for 2€ or freshly cooked octopus for 17€). If you want to do your own shopping in the market (meat, seafood...), entering through the main gate you'll find a place on the left called Churromanía where for 10% of the price of your purchase (you'll need to keep your receipt) plus 3 euros per person, they'll cook what you've bought for you. If you know what you're doing when comes to buying seafood, it's as very attractive alternative.
