- Brief description: Isabella I of Castille (Isabella the Catholic) ordered to built it on top of the main mosque of Granada immediately after the re-conquest. The church is a masterpiece of Spanish Renaissance style. More than the Cathedral itself (we recommend walking around it and seeing it from the outside), it's worth visiting the Capilla Real (Royal Chapel), where the tombs of the Catholic Monarchs (and the tombs of Joanna the Mad and Phillipe the Handsome as well) are located. This chapel also contains a small museum in which you can see some of the Monarch's personal belongings, including Ferdinand's shield and Isabella's crown and looking glass.
- Cost: 4€, Royal Chapel (recommended); 4€, Cathedral.
- Length of visit: 30 minutes.
- Hours: March-August: from 10:45 to 13:30 and 16:00 to 20:00 (Sundays & holidays: 16:00 to 20:00). From September to February the hours are the same, though it closes at 19:00 instead of 20:00.
- How to get there: walking or taking any bus in Granada (Gran Vía 1 stop). The entrance to the Cathedral is in the back, facing Gran Vía. The entrance to the Royal Chapel is to the left of the Cathedral's entrance.
