We depart again from Plaça Catalunya, this time following Carrer Fontanellas. After 50 metres, we turn right onto Vía Laietana and walk down. Everything on the right-hand side is the Gothic Quarter while everything on the left is the Borne.
Crossing over to the sidewalk on the left-hand side of the street, we turn left at Carrer Ramón Màs and continue until we reach the Palau de la Musica. Walk around the building for a full view of the facade.
From the main facade, take Carrer Verdaguer y Callís, where you'll find the Antic Teatre, a neighbourhood theatre for amateur artists with a nice café-garden inside.
At the end of this street, turn right and return to Via Laietana. Continue heading down until you reach Avinguda de Francesc Cambó. Turning left, we can now see the Mercat de Santa Caterina on our right, where it's worth stopping for a moment to observe the strange architecture of its roof.
Now follow Carrer Freixures (to the left of the market) until it ends and turn left onto Carrer dels Carders. Continue walking until you see the small church on the corner. On the right, enter Carrer Montcada, famous for its mansions, which constitute the best representation of medieval architecture in Barcelona.
This walk will take around 30 minutes.
