At the bottom of the Ramblas you'll find yourself in Port Vell (Old Port). We recommend walking or cycling from here to Barceloneta (approx. 15min). Points of special interest:
- Statue of Columbus: at the end of the Ramblas. One of the most well-known monuments in Barcelona. You can go inside and up to a viewpoint below the statue, but it's not really necessary.
- Drassanes: At the end of the Ramblas, on the right, you'll see a stone building. It forms part of the old "drassanes" of Barcelona, the workshops where since the 13th century hundreds of vessels have been built. Today the Maritime Museum of Barcelona, we don't recommend going inside, though the exterior is worth seeing.
- Maremagnum: After the statue of Columbus, you'll see a large pedestrian bridge that crosses the port and connects the land with an artificial island. Simply cross the bridge and come back to go to Barceloneta by way of Passeig de Colom.
- Port Vell: If you cross to the other side of Plaça del Portal de la Pau and start walking towards Barceloneta, Port Vell will be on your right. While walking, don't miss the line of stately buildings on the other side of Plaça del Portal de la Pau.
