Barceloneta Beach:

Playa de la Barceloneta

Barceloneta is the first of Barcelona's beaches, the one closest to the city and usually the liveliest. If you want to add a beach day to the route, you have several options:

  • If you want to treat yourself to a bit of luxury, at the end of Barceloneta Beach on the right, at the foot of the Hotel W (called the "Hotel Vela", or "Sail Hotel" by locals), you'll find Beach Club de Custo (Custo is a famous Catalan fashion designer). They have individual hammocks you can rent for 30? a day. Closer to the bar are some chill-out areas for 2-3 persons. These are free, though a minimum consumption of 100€ on food or drink in the bar restaurant is required. The food in the restaurant is 18-20€ per plate (fideua, sushi...) and 10€ for appetizers. Beer is 5-6€.
  • If you prefer a normal day at the beach, we recommend the beaches of Bogatell (the hippest in the city, with kiosks and good DJ's) or Mar Bella Beach (quieter). The water is cleaner than in Barceloneta and there aren't any rocks along the shore. They are located past the Olympic Port: Bogatell: Poblenou or Llacuna metro stops (L4) and Mar Bella: Selva de Mar stop (L4).
