Safety in Spain:
Spain is a very safe country except for pickpockets in tourist areas (Plaza Mayor and surrounding areas in Madrid, the Ramblas in Barcelona). Be alert in less frequented areas such as the Albaicín in Granada, where it's a good idea to travel in groups and avoid sightseeing during the siesta hour and at night.
