• Brief description: Mount Misen, at 500 meters above the sea level, is the highest peak in Miyajima. Apart from the temples, monuments and wild deer you might found during your ascent to the top, the best of all is the wonderful landscape you will get: the island, the surroundings and the city of Hiroshima in the distance. 
• Duration of visit: 2 hrs (4 hrs if going up on foot).
• Observation: wear suitable footwear. The paths are quite rough and steep!
• Cost: funicular 1,000¥ one-way, 1,800¥ round trip. 
• How to get there: we suggest going up in the funicular (Ropeway) and coming down on foot. At the entrance to Momijidani Park, there is a bus that will take you to the bottom of the funicular in 3 min. (included in the funicular ticket price). You can descend either by the Momijidani Course, which is longer but not as steep, or by the shorter but steeper Omoto Course. We recommend the latter (approx. 1 hr 30 min.). If you do walk up, go by the Momijidani course. The climb takes two hours and is rather steep!
