Herculaneum was also buried by the same eruption as Pompey. Its ruins (and above all the mosaics) are in a better state of conservation than those of Pompeii, but the truth is that unless you are really passionate about Roman art and culture, they do not have much additional interest. - Opening times: it opens every day at 08.30 (during summer season opens at 09.00). It closes at 19.30 from April to October and at 17.30 from November to March (last entry 1h 30min before closing).
- Cost: 11€ (discounts for young people from the European Union between 18 and 25) (free for those under 18 and over 65). Audio-guide for 8€.
- How to get there: go back to the station and take the "circumvesuviana" train towards Naples and get off at "Ercolano - Scavi " (2.40€ - 15min).
