Visit San Fructuoso:

San Fructuoso

  • Brief description: San Fruttuoso is a small village situated in a cove at the foot of a cliff, famous for its great abbey which takes up almost the whole beach. Constructed by Benedictine monks it was abandoned and later used as a shelter for fishermen and a cave by pirates until a well-known Genoese family took up residence there and had a tower built. It is a good idea to take a short stroll through the village and walk over the large rocks in order to get the best views. In the waters of San Fruttuoso Bay, at a depth of 17 metres, lies the Christ of the Deep, a two and a half metre statue resting on a five-metre pedestal. If you have a licence, there is a diving school which organizes dives.
  • How to get there: 2h 30min on foot from Camogli or take a boat in Camogli port.
  • Cost: boat 9€ single, 14€ return.
