Brief description: is the biggest palace in Florence, and residence of the Medici family. Different galleries with independent entrances which we willset out below in order of interest:
- Palatine Gallery: royal apartments with works by the most famous Renaissance artists. Ticket includes entrance to the Gallery of Modern Art
- Boboli Gardens: impressive gardens (the largest in the city) where you will find a small lake, various grottos, fountains and hundreds of marble statues (like the eunuch's "Il Morgante"). Do not miss the ancient amphitheater and the Egyptian obelisk. The ticket includes admission to the Gallery of Costume (exhibiting costumes), the Silver Museum and the Museum of Porcelain.
Length of visit: 1h30min for the Palatine Gallery (plus 1h if you visit the Gallery of Modern Art); 1h for the Boboli Gardens (2-3 hours if visiting the other galleries).
Hours: 08.15-18.30 from Tuesday to Sunday. The gardens open every day from 08.15 but close at 16.30 from November to February, at 17.30 in March, at 18.30 in April, May, September and October, at 19.30 from June to August.
How to get there: walking. They are placed in Piazza dei Pitti. Cross Ponte Vecchio if coming from the North or Via Romana if coming from the South.
