Lunch at Hanging Monastery:

After visiting the caves, we recommend going to the Monastery and eating lunch before heading up. The area below the monastery is brimming with restaurants. We recommend Special Flavour, a very, very local spot. We liked the egg rice a lot and also the chicken or pork with mushrooms, though more as a curiosity than for the taste. 20-30CNY per dish.

Dinner or lunch in Datong before taking the train:

We recommend Best One Pizza. The pizza is very good (50-70CNY) and the Oriental-style pasta is interesting (1-2CNY). You can walk there. It's inside a kind of market in front of Drum Tower: at the end of the main street, on the left, in front of what looks like a Chinese temple.
