- Brief description: area known as the Chinese Petra. A series of caves with different images of Buddha carved and sculpted into the rock. The most famous caves are caves 16 to 20, but we also recommend visiting number 5. You don't need to visit the rest one by one; stroll about and if you have time and are interested, go in.
- Duration of visit: 1hr 30min.
- Hours: 8:30 to 17:00.
- Cost: 120CNY.
- How to get there: 30 minutes by car from the city. It's best to reserve a taxi at the front desk of the hotel, indicating that you want to visit the Yungang Caves first and Hanging Monastery afterward. Hiring a car should run you about 280CNY (if it's summer, make sure the taxi has AC). For China, it's a bit pricey, but it's a rather long ride and you'll have the car for most of the day.
