• Brief description: also called Yonghe Lamasery or Harmony and Peace Palace Lamasery. It is the largest and best-preserved lamersay in China. While originally built as a residence for the prince, it soon became a national centre of lama (Buddhist priest) administration.

• How to get there: bike. On Guozijian Street, approx. 45 min north of Tiananmen, very close to Temple of Confucius. On the metro, get off at Yonghegong Station (Lines 2 and 5).
