For dinner, your best bet is the area that includes the main streets Bennet, Cavenagh, Smith and Mitchell (on the return trip from Kakadu, when you have a rental car, we recommend going to the Waterfront). We recommend Mitchelli's Pizza Café, 11 Mitchell Street (tel. 08 8941 7500). They claim to have the best pizza in the city, and the truth is it's pretty good!
