- Brief description: the most famous beach in Sydney! Ideal for learning to surf. We recommend walking its length and back and why not, renting a surfboard and giving it a shot! In the Ben Buckler section (on the left facing the sea) is a lookout with gorgeous views of the entire coast. On the main street (Campbell) are tons of restaurants and take aways (if you want to treat yourself to something nice, try the famous oysters at Ravesi's at 16 AU$ for an order of 4; they also offer Italian food for 15-20 AU$ per dish. It's on the corner between Campbell and Hall Streets).
- How to get there: take bus 380 or 382 towards North Bondi, Dover Heights, Watsons Bay or Bondi Beach. It leaves from Circular Quay, picks up Elisabeth Street along Hyde Park, and then branches off onto Liverpool Street, so you can catch the bus at any of these points. The ride is 45 minutes from Circular Quay and costs around 4.20 AU$ (depending on where you catch the bus). To get back, take the 380. Be sure it says Circular Quay and not Bondi Junction (the 382 always stays here and is not convenient for the return journey).
- Cost: renting a surfboard costs 20 AU$ per persona while a 2-hour course will run you 35 AU$, equipment included. There are numerous rental and surf school places all along the beach.
