- Brief description: the road to Jim Jim Falls is worth experiencing in and of itself. A 4-wheel drive road (suitable for beginners) where you cross bridges, small rivers and sandy areas. At the end is a 2 km circular path, which you follow on foot through one of the forests of the park until you come to a large natural pool formed by a waterfall (in the dry season the falls normally don't flow, but it's still beautiful). There usually aren't many around but be careful for crocodiles! Always be on the lookout in case one appears. If it does, don't get too close or do anything to provoke it. If you're up for it, continue for another half an hour in the car to Twin Falls (the park needs to be quite dry to reach it). The water in these falls flows all year and the scenery is very pretty. The only catch is on the last section of the car ride, when you have to cross a small river about one metre deep. Here it is common to see crocodiles. Be careful!
- How to get there: the exit to the dirt road that takes you to Jim Jim Falls is 43 km south of the Bowali Visitor Center on Kakadu Highway. Before coming to the road to Cooinda, you'll see a diversion on the left indicating Jim Jim Falls and Twin Falls. Once you're on this road, engage the 4WD on your car and drive no faster than 60 km/h.
- Length: 45 minutes to the diversion road from Jabiru, 2 hours to Jim Jim Falls, 1 hour to visit the falls and 2 more hours to get back to the main road. If you go to Twin Falls, add an additional 1.5 hours. All together, 6-7 hours.
